History Week
What fun we had during History week in March 2008. The children very much enjoyed visits to school by a stroppy Roman soldier, a coal miners wife, a Viking, and a Victorian school teacher. Our pupils were amazed at how very stricked it was in school during the victorian period. They also learnt that you had to grow up very quickly indeed if you were a viking child.
Tutankhanum Exhibition in London July 2008
At school we had an Arts Competition during Arts week. The winners and runners up had the fantastic opportunity to go to London and visit the Tutankhanum Exhibition. It was brilliant! The children were amazed at the beautiful displays and were very much in owe of the magnificent exhibits.
York University Trip July 2008
Our year 6 have to opportunity each year to experience what it would be like to go to university. They have a residential stay there with their parents. One of the exciting parts of the visit is the medical section, where the children can see what goes on in preparation for an operation. We hope the trip will encourage more of our children to go to university when they are older.
We also visit on the same trip the RAF Linton Base in York. This is a fantastic place for the children to see. The children are allowed to visit the Flight Tower. The fighter planes are in constant contact with the base. Our children were allowed to sit in a stationary fighter plane and experience lots lots more.
Edinburgh Trip 2008
We had a brilliant time visiting Edinburgh. The children thought it was a very historical place. They visited Edinburgh Castle, the Parliment Buildings and The Royal Yacht Britannia. What a rare opportunity it was to go on board and have a wonderful tour from the crew. Our fantastic Heera dancers gave a spectacular performance, showing off their well rehersed routines.
